VISTANCIA COMES ALIVE AS MORE THAN 460 FAMILIES MOVE INTO POPULAR NORTHWEST VALLEY COMMUNITY

Theres a Web site just for Vistancia residents now and the online message board is filling up.The once quiet basketball gymnasium has become the scene of friendly after-school games among neighborhood kids. And in a few short weeks, the three swimming pools will be the refreshing center of activity.

In just over a year, more than 460 families now call the master planned community of Vistancia in north Peoria, home. It is anticipated that an additional 50 families will move into Vistancia over the next few months.

Since home sales began in March 2004, 463 homes have sold and closed. Overall sales of 1,497, more than anticipated by the developer and builders, were impressive enough to catch the attention of Robert Charles Lesser & Co., LLC, which listed Vistancia at 15 among the nations 25 top-selling communities for 2004.

And last January, 10 months after opening, Vistancia was named Americas Best Master Planned Community by the National Association of Home Builders.

Its all very exciting to see Vistancia come alive, said Curt Smith, chief operating officer for Sunbelt Holdings, the developer of Vistancia with Shea Homes, both based in Scottsdale. All the amenities were in place prior to the start of home sales, so its gratifying to see the facilities being used in a way that integrates the community.

Vistancia is north Peorias newest master planned community.Carefully designed with access to open space and the beauty of the Sonoran Desert, Vistancia offers residents a lifestyle that embraces nature and encourages discovery of the desert environment.

Reflecting that sense of discovery is Vistancias benchmark amenity, The Discovery Trail, a 3.35-mile linear park bisecting the community from south to north and serving as its main artery to link neighborhoods to amenities.

This educational hiking trail offers one of a handful of themed gardens in the United States devoted to the study of the skies.Along a downward spiraling path, the Solar Garden and Constellation Walk feature scaled models of the planets hanging from panels printed with detailed information. At the heart of the spiral is a 12-foot in diameter concrete sun surrounded by amphitheater-style seating.

Future plans call for an expansion of the trail continuing north above the Central Arizona Project.

World renowned architect Bing Hu of H&S International of Scottsdale, has designed many of Vistancias public buildings in a contemporary, organic design that harmonizes with the surrounding desert.

Trilogy at Vistancia, the age-qualified resort-style community situated within Vistancia, is also buzzing with activity. The Kiva Club, the enclaves centerpiece amenity, is a popular spot with residents. Within the club is the Alvea Spa with a full menu of services from massages and facials to hydrotherapy treatments and salon and nail services; Cafe Solaz featuring healthy, light fare and a large selection of coffees; and a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art fitness facility.

In addition, an expansive outdoor patio overlooking the Gary Panks course at Trilogy at Vistancia Golf Club, is becoming a favorite place to watch the sunset.

With the influx of families to Vistancia came the recent hiring of a full-time activities coordinator, Johanna Yu, who, in her brief tenure, has established a MOMS Club support group, scrapbooking club, Mens and Kids Free For All Basketball, as well as classes in windsurfing and creative writing.

The young families comprising the majority of Vistancias population are very activity based, said Yu, who also has developed the community Web site, MyVistancia.com, and produces a quarterly newsletter, The Vistancia Village Voice.

Creating a sense of community by providing avenues of activities and events as well as other opportunities that bring together residents is the goal of the recreational program here, she added.

Among other events Yu is developing are a Mothers Day Brunch prepared by kids in the community, Hot Summer Nights featuring movies shown poolside and a Tour of the World, a series of evenings offering the food and games of a different country each time.

To enhance the recreational program and to ensure that residents interests are being addressed, monthly meetings are held inviting input from residents on activities and events.

Further signs that Vistancia is emerging is the start of construction on Vistancia K-8 Elementary School, the Peoria Unified School Districts 30th elementary school, which is on target for completion for the Fall 2006 school year.
